A message from Stephen, Director of Children Services
Social work is changing - and we’d love you to be part of Bexley’s team!
We’re looking for passionate, creative practitioners who think outside of the box. With Bexley, you’ll find flexibility, a chance to grow, and a supportive environment every step of the way.
We understand that to give children and families the best possible support our practitioners need to feel secure and well equipped.
You’ll be able to access our excellent learning, development and well-being offer. As members of the Workforce Race Equalities Standard (WRES) we are committed to anti-racist practice.
As a strengths based and relational organisation, we take pride in recognising our practitioners’ successes, holding regular staff awards.
High retention rates speak for themselves: many of our practitioners have mapped out their careers at Bexley with opportunities for trying out what fits for them and their goals.
Our “grow your own” approach means that apprenticeships, study opportunities, coaching and leadership training are intrinsic to our Bexley fabric.
If you have a vision for your career, we’ll support it - guiding you from day one.
Join us - and let’s shape the future of social work together".

Signs of Safety
At the heart of Bexley’s approach is the Signs of Safety model – a strengths-based, relational way of working that puts children, families and their networks at the centre of everything we do.
This model supports social workers to build honest, respectful and solution-focused relationships with families. It helps create clear plans that prioritise safety, empower families, and promote long-term change.
We use Signs of Safety across all areas of Children’s Social Care and with our partner agencies. It’s embedded not only in direct practice, but also in how we supervise, audit and support staff, ensuring a consistent, reflective and collaborative approach across the service.
Whether you're an experienced practitioner or just beginning your journey, you will receive dedicated support and training to grow your confidence in using Signs of Safety in real-world practice.
