In today’s fast-paced world, taking care of mental health has become more crucial than ever.
One effective and accessible way to improve mental wellbeing is through physical activity. It can help reduce stress, improve sleep, boost self-esteem and reduce isolation.
Over the coming months we will be working with a range of partners to develop new opportunities. Please keep an eye out for opportunities funded by Public Health to get involved with Head in the Game, Our Parks and Age UK Bexley. More information can be found through:
Head in the Game
MindFuel – Powering Mental Health Through Movement
Head in The Game are delivering free, accessible, and inclusive sports and wellbeing interventions across Bexley, including Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith, Crayford, Welling, Foots Cray, Thamesmead and more ensuring every local resident benefits. Mental wellbeing activities such as group exercise, community sports, and wellbeing sessions are delivered directly into these communities, aiming to uplift both mental and physical health across the borough.
Over the coming months, they are delivering a wide range of free sessions across the London Borough of Bexley as part of the MindFuel project.
Who’s it for? This project is for anyone in Bexley who wants to:
- Improve their mental wellbeing
- Feel less isolated
- Build confidence through sport
- Develop healthier habits
- Simply have fun and meet new people
No pressure, no expectations just a chance to move, connect, and feel better at your own pace.
Age UK Bexley
Stronger Together is a 12-week free exercise class for adults aged 55+ who are not currently undertaking any other regular fitness activities. It is funded by the Public Health Department at the London Borough of Bexley. The aim of the programme is to maintain health and fitness and prevent frailty and falls which can significantly impact quality of life. The programme also offers the opportunity to meet other people over a cup of tea or coffee and supports people to access other services that may be relevant to their needs. Participants will undertake an assessment at the beginning and the end of the 12 week programme in order to track improvements.

Free outdoor gym sessions in Bexley Parks
Get active, feel better, and connect with your community – right in your local park.
We’ve partnered with Our Parks to deliver free, weekly coached fitness sessions using outdoor gym equipment and surrounding green spaces across Bexley. These sessions are designed to help residents discover how to use the equipment safely and effectively to support both physical and mental wellbeing.
Whether you're new to exercise, returning after a break, or simply looking for a fun way to stay active, these sessions, which are led by qualified coaches, are inclusive, beginner-friendly, and open to all.
