Apply for a chaperone licence
Use this service to apply and pay for an application to work or volunteer as a licensed chaperone.
- You must be a Bexley resident and over 18 years of age
- You must provide address and employment details for the past 5 years
- You must provide the details of two independent referees known to you and their contact details. You should inform your referees that they will be contacted by the local authority and ensure they are comfortable providing a reference
- Applicants must have a valid Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List certificate
- If you don't already have this, we can apply to the DBS for a check on your behalf. Make sure you select the correct service
- If you have previously had an Enhanced DBS check and are not sure if it is valid, you can check using the DBS Update Service but only if you registered with the service within 30 days of your previous certificate being issued and are currently subscribed.
- You must have registered for the DBS update service within 30 days of your application being submitted to be granted a licence. If you do not subscribe/maintain the subscription and another DBS needs to be undertaken, you may be charged for the cost of a new application.
- If you will receive payment for your work as a Chaperone, you must apply for a Professional licence.

- Make sure you have a valid credit or debit card ready to pay the fees of your application.
If any statement in your application is found to be untrue, or if you do not fulfil all the above conditions, your application will be rejected or your licence revoked. Fees are non-refundable.
