Almost 7000 children registered to sit the 2025 test and only around 30% of these will be deemed selective. All children who took the test have been ranked in order of their total score. The number of children deemed selective is determined by the number of children needed to fill the 800 places available.

If there is evidence that a child’s score does not properly reflect their ability and there were exceptional circumstances that may have affected their test performance, the non-selective decision can be reviewed. Review requests can only be submitted through the child’s head teacher.

Factors that have been considered in previous years by the Review Panel include long-term personal and social factors.   Evidence provided must have had a substantial impact at the time of the test.

The stages of the review process are:

  1. Requests for review can only be made by Head Teachers, and they must discuss the process with parents. We ask for evidence from the Head Teacher of the child’s attainment in school. The Head Teacher will need to complete the ‘Pupil Report for The Selection Review Panel’. All review requests must be received by the Bexley School Admissions Team by 7th November 2025. Requests received after this date will not be considered
  2. The review process will be completed by the 26th November 2025, after the deadline for submitting Secondary Applications by 31st October 2025. Where a Head Teacher is requesting a review, they should remind parents to include at least one preference for a grammar school in Bexley on your Secondary Application. This is so that the application for a grammar school can be considered if the Review Panel decides that the child should be deemed selective
  3. School Admissions will email the Head Teacher advising of the outcome of the review by 5 December 2025
