What we do
- Urban and spatial planning: shape the future of our borough through local plans, development management, and area strategies - guiding growth while protecting green spaces
- Highways and transport: maintain roads, manage public transport projects, deliver cycling and walking schemes, and improve accessibility for all users
- Parks, leisure and green spaces: manage parks, playgrounds, and community spaces. We nurture biodiversity, deliver health and wellbeing programmes, and host events for all ages
- Environmental services: oversee waste and recycling, street cleansing, pollution control, and regulated environmental compliance
- Sustainability and climate action: lead on carbon reduction, energy efficiency, flood resilience, and green infrastructure with partners and funders

Teams within Place
- Highways, traffic, and infrastructure: maintains and improves transport infrastructure while managing traffic flow and promoting road safety
- Environmental services: manages waste collection contract, recycling, and environmental enforcement to ensure a clean and safe community
- Economic development: drives business growth, job creation, and skills development across the Borough
- Library services: operates libraries as community hubs offering resources, events, and learning support
- Strategic planning: develops long-term planning strategies to guide sustainable development and infrastructure growth
- Planning and regulations: ensures building compliance and evaluates planning applications in line with local policies
- Housing services: supports housing access, homelessness prevention, and housing quality initiatives
- Leisure, parks, and open spaces: maintains green spaces and runs leisure programs to enhance community wellbeing and biodiversity
- Parking services: enforces parking regulations and manages disputes through a joint service with Bromley Council
