Armed Forces Day will take place on 23 June and will see Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Christine Catterall, raise a flag outside the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath to mark the occasion.
The event celebrates our service men and women, past and present, for their dedication and sacrifice as part of our Armed Forces.
The flag, which has been specially commissioned for the event, will be lifted at the front of the Civic Offices at 10.15am.
The flag-raising ceremony will be followed by a short service of thanksgiving.
The Mayor said:
It is an honour to be able to raise the flag in proud recognition of Armed Forces Day.
I would like to thank the men and women of our Armed Forces, past and present, for their service, their sacrifice and their unwavering commitment to protecting our freedoms.
We extend our sincere thanks to their families, whose strength and support so often goes unseen but never unappreciated.
The Armed Forces dedication to duty, care for others, and willingness to serve wherever needed sets an inspiring example for us all.”
Armed Forces Day officially takes place on 28 June and serves as an opportunity for the nation to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.
