Autism Awareness Event brings Bexley services together

As part of World Autism Acceptance Month, residents, services and community organisations came together for an Autism Event on Monday, 20 April, hosted by the Bexley Autism Partnership Board.

The event followed on from a staff session held last year at Bexley Civic Offices. Based on feedback from the Board, a similar event was organised for residents to raise awareness of the local support available to autistic people and their families.

The event brought together children’s services, adult services and the voluntary and community sector, highlighting partnership working across Bexley.

During the session, residents were taken on a journey through services at different stages of life. This included early years support, school transitions, preparing for adulthood, adult social care and employment opportunities. The aim was to give a clear overview of what is available and how to access support.

At the end of the event, attendees were able to speak directly with local organisations during a marketplace session, which provided time to ask questions and find out more about support across Bexley.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the event, including residents, local organisations and staff from across services.
