The London Borough of Bexley is proud to announce Bexley Fostering Week, running from 22 to 28 September, a week dedicated to celebrating the life-changing work of foster carers and raising awareness of fostering within our community.
Throughout the week, a series of events will give residents the chance to meet foster carers, speak with the fostering team, and find out more about how fostering can transform children’s lives.
Event highlights include:
- foster carer coffee morning – Monday 22 September, 10am to 12pm Marriott Hotel, Bexleyheath. An informal opportunity to meet foster carers, ask questions, and hear first-hand what fostering is really like
- out and about in the community – Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 September, Broadway Shopping Centre, Bexleyheath
Meet the fostering team in the community and discover how fostering can make a difference - online information session – Wednesday 24 September, 6.30pm to 8pm and Thursday 2 October, 6.30pm to 8pm. A convenient way to learn more about fostering from home, with the chance to ask questions directly to the fostering team. We run these all the way through the year
- Bexley fostering park run - Danson Park – Saturday 27 September from 9am. The fostering team and carers will be out in force, supporting runners and raising awareness of the need for more foster carers in Bexley in partnership with Bexley Park Run
Cllr Chris Taylor, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said:
Foster carers make an incredible difference to children’s lives, providing safety, stability and love when it’s needed most. Bexley Fostering Week is a wonderful opportunity to thank our carers and to encourage more local people to consider fostering.”
