Bexley launches National Care Leavers Month with celebration at The Vibe

Bexley news update

The London Borough of Bexley is proud to mark National Care Leavers Month this November with a programme of events and activities celebrating the achievements, resilience and potential of care-experienced young people.

The month-long programme will begin with a launch event at The Vibe, bringing together care leavers, professionals and partners to celebrate the successes of young people and highlight the support available as they move into adulthood.

Throughout National Care Leavers Month, Bexley will shine a spotlight on the experiences and achievements of care leavers, recognising the valuable contributions they make to their communities, education, employment and local life. The campaign will also raise awareness of the support available to young people leaving care and the role everyone can play in helping them thrive.

Bexley is committed to being a caring and ambitious Corporate Parent, ensuring care leavers have access to opportunities, guidance and support as they build independent and fulfilling lives.

Councillor Chris Taylor, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said:

National Care Leavers Month is an opportunity to celebrate the determination, talent and achievements of our care experienced young people. We are incredibly proud of our care leavers and remain committed to supporting them as they move towards their goals and ambitions. The launch event at The Vibe is just the beginning of a month dedicated to recognising their successes and amplifying their voices."

During the month, Bexley will share care leaver stories, promote local services and opportunities and celebrate the positive impact that care experienced young people have across the Borough.

National Care Leavers Month takes place every year to raise awareness of the experiences of young people leaving care, challenge stigma and celebrate achievements. Bexley is proud to join local authorities and organisations across the country in recognising and supporting care leavers.
