Businesses in Bexleyheath have voted to renew the town centre Business Improvement District (BID), securing a fourth five-year term for the organisation.
The successful ballot means the Bexleyheath BID will continue to invest in projects and services that support local businesses, improve the town centre and attract visitors from 2026 to 2031.
The outcome of the ballot, which closed on Thursday, 9 July 2026, saw 91 votes cast, representing a turnout of 35%. In total, 76% voted in favour, representing 73% of the total rateable value of votes cast. The detailed results are available on our website.
Councillor David Leaf, Leader of the Council, said:
This is a very positive result for Bexleyheath and everyone who lives, works and does business in our town centre. I would like to congratulate the Bexleyheath BID team and all those businesses that have taken part in the ballot.
The Council is committed to working closely with the BID and our partners to ensure Bexleyheath continues to thrive.
Together, we want to build on the town's strengths, support local enterprise and make Bexleyheath an even more vibrant destination for residents, businesses and visitors over the next five years."
Caron Linyard, BID Manager, said:
We are delighted that businesses have once again voted in favour of the Bexleyheath BID. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote and for the confidence they have placed in us. We look forward to delivering our new business plan, continuing to support businesses and working with our partners to ensure Bexleyheath remains a vibrant, welcoming and successful town centre."
The Bexleyheath BID area covers the Broadway from the Civic Offices to Lion Road and includes the town centre's retail, leisure and hospitality businesses. The renewed BID will continue to deliver a programme of events, marketing, business support, environmental improvements and initiatives to enhance the town centre over the next five years.
