Clarifying the future of Sidcup Youth Centre: Joint statement from Bexley Council and Rose Bruford College

Bexley news update

We are aware of recent social media posts that have caused concern in the community regarding the future of the Sidcup Youth Centre site.

We want to reassure residents that:

  • The land is not being sold or redeveloped. Bexley Council is granting a 25-year lease to Rose Bruford College, not disposing the freehold of the land.
  • Community use will continue. Local groups will still be able to use the external playing pitches as they do now.
  • There will be no loss of green space.
  • Rose Bruford College is not building new structures. They are making internal improvements to the building and relocating staff from another site to Sidcup, supporting the local economy.
  • Planning permission is required only for a change of use — from youth services to educational use — not for construction.

Both Bexley Council and Rose Bruford College are committed to supporting the local community, enhancing educational opportunities, and ensuring that valued local services continue to thrive.

We are proud of the strong relationship between the College and the Sidcup community and will continue to work together to ensure this site benefits everyone.
