Residents, volunteers, businesses and community groups came together on Saturday (25 July) for the third successive Truck Pull and Uniformed Services Day, helping to raise vital funds for local and national charities.

Organised by newly elected ward Councillor Barry Saunders, who also serves as Chair of the Welling Town Business Associates (WTBA), the event has firmly established itself as one of Bexley's biggest annual charity events. Teams took on the challenge of pulling six trucks over a two-mile route from Welling to Bexleyheath, cheered on by supporters along the way.

An incredible line-up of volunteers, local businesses, community groups and emergency services joined forces to raise money for We Are Beams, The Fire Fighters Charity, London Ambulance Charity, The REME Charity, Breast Cancer Now and Care of Police Survivors.

The Leader of the Council, alongside Cabinet Members Councillor Sandhu and Councillor Smith, also rolled up their sleeves to take part in the challenge, joining the many teams determined to make a difference.

Meanwhile, Bexleyheath Broadway hosted Uniformed Services Day, where visitors enjoyed an impressive display of emergency service vehicles, interactive demonstrations and opportunities to meet the dedicated people who serve and protect our communities.

The event once again showcased the strength of Bexley's community, bringing together residents, businesses, volunteers and the uniformed services for a day of fundraising, celebration and recognition of those who make a difference every day.

Every contribution will help the six partner charities continue their vital work supporting disabled children, emergency service personnel, military families, people affected by breast cancer and the families of fallen police officers.
