The London Borough of Bexley welcomed the Deputy Mayor of London for Business, Howard Dawber OBE and his team to the Borough to discuss our Economic Growth Strategy plans, opportunities in the Borough and partnership working to support investment in new jobs, housing and growth.
The Deputy Mayor for Business met with the Leader of Bexley Council, Cllr David Leaf, Cabinet Member for Place Shaping, Cllr Munur and local town centre organisation the Erith Town Centre Business Partnership. They discussed the opportunities emerging across the Borough, the fantastic work already taking place to strengthen town centres and our long-term vision for attracting investment and creating the right environment for businesses to thrive.
Erith Ward Councillor Nicola Taylor joined them on a tour of Erith where the Deputy Mayor for Business saw for himself some of the impressive improvements that the Council has worked with local people and partners to deliver. These include the newly transformed Riverside Gardens with stunning views of the River Thames and a new community space at 68 Pier Road for local people. The group also visited Erith Pier and discussed the potential for growth.
Cllr David Leaf, Leader of Bexley Council, said:
Bexley is well positioned for good, sustainable growth and we look forward to working more closely with partners to deliver our new Economic Growth Strategy. These important conversations with key partners reinforced our shared ambition for strong inclusive growth. We want our Borough to continue to be a great place to live, work and raise a family and our message to investors is that Bexley is a Borough that is open for business."
