The Goblin of Lesnes is back for more performances this month. The new indoor shows will take place at two exciting venues across Bexley.
Over 400 people first experienced the magical new show at Lesnes Abbey from 29 to 31 October, where all performances sold out.
The story follows a half-human, half-goblin creature who becomes trapped in the Abbey ruins for centuries. As night falls, secrets, lies, and magic unfold in this atmospheric tale. The show features elite performers from London’s West End under the artistic direction of Nancy Sullivan, star of Alan Carr’s ITV show Changing Ends.
Audience members loved the show:
The play itself was superb; the actors really impressed, and the story was well told, easy to understand by the kids”. Another added, “It was just a lovely production. The acting was really good, a very atmospheric set and good story. Really enjoyable."
Due to high demand, two extra indoor performances will now take place:
- 14 November – Sidcup Storyteller (sponsored by Sidcup Partners, the Business Improvement District for Sidcup town centre)
- 22 November – Crossness Engines, performed inside the historic beam engine house. Tickets include vintage Routemaster transport from Abbey Wood Station and a ride on the Crossness narrow-gauge railway
The Ruined Theatre developed this original theatre production, which is being performed as part of Bexley’s Night Visions Festival, which runs until January 2026.
Night Visions is a ‘festival of light-themed’ arts events supported by £100,000 of Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants. It forms part of #CelebratingBexley, a year-long programme of arts, culture and entertainment marking key local anniversaries including 60 years of the London Borough of Bexley, 500 years since the closure of Lesnes Abbey and 160 years of Crossness Engines.
