Local Offer Live: Celebrating hobbies, health and independence

Local Offer Live

Following the success of our last Local Offer Live event in December last year, we held our Local Offer Live: Preparation for Adulthood event at the Civic Offices on Friday 6 March.

This month’s event highlighted hobbies, health and independence and was co‑designed with local families and support services, with feedback provided by families helping to inform its layout.

It promoted Preparation for Adulthood through holistic support for Bexley young people aged 13 to 25.

Cabinet Member for Education and Corporate Services, Cllr Caroline Newton, said:

This event was an important opportunity for Bexley’s young people to learn more about the guidance and support on offer as they prepare for their futures.

Young people had the chance to speak with a variety of services about their interests, health and living independently.

This is just the latest step in our work to ensure we continue to deliver the brightest future for our young people.”

The event saw 194 young attend, 30 services involved and 18 workshops held across the day.

Jack, an LSEC pupil and aspiring dancer, was one of two young people who performed at the event, showcasing the power of hobbies, health, and independence.

Jack has built an impressive following online and champions the message that “different is beautiful.”  His performance and dedication serve as an example of the potential of Bexley’s young people.
