Transport for London (TfL) announced today (24 July) that they will be converting the bus route 472 to a limited-stop Superloop SL11 from early next year.
The change follows a TfL consultation earlier this year that saw Bexley call for any Superloop change to link Welling to the Elizabeth Line, increasing transport options across the borough.
The current 472 runs from Thamesmead to North Greenwich via Woolwich. The new SL11 Superloop will stop at Abbey Wood Station via Thamesmead and Woolwich to North Greenwich.
Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Richard Diment said:
This is yet another example of Transport for London and the Mayor of London ignoring our strong representations to extend the Superloop south from Abbey Wood to provide a much needed link from the Elizabeth Line to Welling.
Despite our best efforts the opportunity to improve public transport in Bexley has been missed by TfL once again. We will continue to take every chance we get to fight for better links for local people and businesses.”
It is expected that Superloop route SL11 will replace the 472 in early 2026.
