As part of the Home Office’s month-long national weapons surrender scheme, Bexley Council is supporting efforts to reduce knife crime and remove dangerous weapons from our streets.

On Thursday 24 July, the FazAmnesty Mobile Surrender Van will be stationed at Oaklands Road Car Park - Bexleyheath. This initiative provides a safe, anonymous, and non-judgmental space for individuals to surrender bladed weapons, including knives and ninja swords.

The scheme is part of the government’s mission to halve knife crime and includes:

  • Anonymous surrender – no questions asked, no personal details required.
  • Safe disposal of any bladed weapon, including ninja swords which will become illegal from 1 August 2025.
  • Support for young people who may not feel comfortable going to a police station.

Cllr Brian Bishop, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said:

We’re urging residents to take this opportunity to help make our borough safer. If you or someone you know has a weapon, surrendering it could save a life – including your own. Together, we will remove these dangerous weapons from our streets and help save lives."
