Children’s Services has developed a new vision statement that reflects the voices, and lived experience of those who work within and use Bexley’s services.
This was approved at the Public Cabinet meeting on 1 July.
Practitioners, participation groups and partners all contributed in shaping this mission statement, which will guide how the service operates.
Our new vision for Children’s Services: Together, with our partners, we will build strong relationships with children and families to empower them to grow, enrich their education and wellbeing to be the best they can be.
This is supported by three core principles:
- valuing the uniqueness of every child and family
- empathy and respect for everyone we work with
- a commitment to engagement, participation and coproduction
Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Cllr Chris Taylor said:
This new vision and mission statement sets out our ambition for Children’s Services: to build on our strengths and deliver the best possible outcomes for children and their families.
It reflects our commitment to working closely with parents, carers and partners, ensuring that children remain at the heart of everything we do.
At Bexley, we are dedicated to giving every child the best possible start in life and creating opportunities for them to thrive.
Cabinet Member for Finance, Corporate Services and Education said:
Our vision is simple: we aim to deliver the best possible outcomes for the borough’s children and families
It will strengthen our partnership work and ensure the borough’s children are given every possibility to reach their full potential.
We will continue to do everything we can to build a brighter future for them.”
The new vision will act as a “north star” for Children’s Services, guiding how we work across education, early help, social care and wider partnerships.
It aligns with key priorities in the Corporate Plan and Health and Wellbeing Strategy, as well as service development informed by our Families First, Best Start in Life, Kinship Zone, SEND Delivery Plan, Youth Justice Plan and wider changes within the Education landscape, with a focus on strengthening earlier identification of need and prevention.
Work will now begin on embedding the vision across the directorate.
