Summer of fun and opportunity as HAF programme returns

HAF Programme

The London Borough of Bexley is providing enjoyable activities and healthy food to children and young people from Reception to Year 11 as part of the government’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme.

Between Monday 20 July and Friday 28 August, eligible children and young people will be able to attend up to 16 days at different holiday schemes across Bexley at no cost.

The programme will include a variety of fun activities, including sports, food making activities, arts and crafts, computer coding, career workshops and CV writing and other exciting opportunities to learn and develop new skills, alongside a nutritious meal each day.

Councillor Caroline Newton, Cabinet Member for Finance, Corporate Services and Education, said:

The Holiday Activities and Food programme in Bexley is a fantastic initiative that provides children with nutritious meals, enriching activities and essential life skills.

It offers a warm and welcoming environment for our young residents during the summer holiday break."

The places on the HAF Programme are funded for families that receive benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM) and have school-age children from Reception up to Year 11 attending a school in Bexley. A small number of funded places are also offered to other vulnerable families in Bexley not receiving free school meals, that are referred by mainstream schools, partner agencies and teams within the Council.

Paid-for places are also available at some of the schemes for those not eligible for the funded places.

The programme will offer children and young people exciting ways to keep active, be creative and try something new during the summer holidays.

Bookings for the funded places on the summer holiday programme will need to be made on the Holiday Activities centralised booking system. Voucher codes were e-mailed to eligible families from Tuesday 23 June. If you are eligible for a funded place and didn’t receive one, please contact your child’s school.
