Residents experiencing financial hardship are being encouraged to find out if they can get support through Bexley Council's Crisis Resilience Fund (CRF), which provides both immediate assistance and help to build longer-term financial resilience.

The fund is designed to support residents facing unexpected financial pressures, helping them access essential items and services while preventing future crises through early intervention and tailored support.

The Crisis Resilience Fund may be able to help eligible residents with:

• Essential household items, including white goods and furniture for those moving into unfurnished accommodation
• Essential clothing costs, including school uniform where appropriate
• Food and other essential living costs
• Utility and energy costs
• Housing-related costs in certain circumstances
• Access to advice and support to improve long-term financial wellbeing

Alongside financial assistance, residents may also be connected with specialist services offering budgeting support, benefit maximisation, debt advice and wider financial guidance to help reduce the likelihood of future hardship.

Councillor Caroline Newton, Cabinet Member for Finance, Corporate Services & Education said:

We want residents to seek help as early as possible rather than waiting until their situation becomes a crisis. If you're worried about paying for essential household items, school uniform, food or energy costs, or you are struggling financially, I would encourage you to get in touch and find out what support may be available."

Residents who need advice about eligibility or urgent support can also contact the Crisis Resilience Fund team by emailing CRF@bexley.gov.uk or calling 0203 045 3700.

Council staff and partner organisations are also being encouraged to identify residents who may benefit from the fund and help them access support through a simple referral process.

While support is subject to eligibility and assessment, residents are encouraged to make contact if they are unsure whether they qualify, as early advice and intervention can make a significant difference.
