Time to celebrate Bexley’s local heroes

Civic Recognition Awards 2026

Nominations are now open for Bexley’s Civic Recognition Awards and residents are invited to put forward their local heroes.

This event celebrates the outstanding individuals and groups who help make Bexley a fantastic place to call home.

Whether it’s a young volunteer, a long-serving community champion, or someone who has achieved exceptional success, this is your chance to recognise their hard work and dedication to the community.

The awards are made in two different categories recognising voluntary service, or to recognise exceptional success in any field for the Outstanding Achievement category:

  • Civic Recognition of Young People - For young people up to age 18 who have undertaken voluntary service to the community or an individual
  • Civic Recognition of Voluntary Service by Adults - For people over the age of 18 who have undertaken voluntary service to the community or an individual over a number of years
  • Civic Recognition of Outstanding Achievement - For people of any age or organisation/business who, during the year, have achieved outstanding success in any walk of life including voluntary service, sport and culture, business or acts of bravery or courage

The ceremony is planned to take place in May 2026 along with the Deputy Leiutenant Awards in the same evening.

Last year, we had 75 nominations and we look forward to seeing our hardworking residents take to the stage again this coming year.

Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Christine Catterall said:

Every day, people across Bexley make a difference through their hard work, dedication and commitment.

If you know someone who deserves to be recognised for their incredible contribution, please take the time to nominate them. Let’s ensure their efforts get the recognition they deserve.”

Leader of the Council, Cllr David Leaf said:

Our great Borough is home to countless individuals who champion their community and put huge efforts into making Bexley even better and the best place to live, work and raise a family. Throughout Bexley, people of all ages and all backgrounds are going above and beyond to care for others, support charities and good causes, and promote a strong sense of community spirit.

These awards are our opportunity to celebrate their contribution to our community and show our appreciation for everything they do.”
