Upset at senseless vandalism in the Riverside Gardens Erith

Brand new playground equipment to go in the relandscaped Riverside Gardens due to open in the Spring has been damaged in a senseless act of vandalism.

Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Growth, Cllr Munur said:

This is a disgusting act of senseless vandalism that achieves nothing but upset in our community.

We are working with the Police and will use any evidence available to ensure that the criminal who broke into the Riverside Gardens and did this is brought to justice. There are lots of flats in that area and I’d urge anyone with any information that might help to come forward.”

The newly refurbished Riverside Gardens are due to open in Spring 2025. New seating, a children’s playground and an outdoor fitness zone, as well as a community gardening area maintained by Friends of Erith, will be located along a ‘Thames Water promenade’ running the length of the gardens and opening them up to the riverside views.

The improvements are being delivered by the Greater Erith programme at London Borough of Bexley and are funded by the Council and partners.  Find out more on Greater Erith website.
