Bexley Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service (BYPDAS)

BYPDAS provide support for young people who are misusing substances. BYPDAS provide assessments and evidence-based interventions based on the young person’s needs. Interventions include providing advice and support around substances, signposting, brief focused advice and goal-based, interventions.

The team

BYPDAS is a community substance misuse service for young people aged 10 to 18 years living in Bexley. It operates Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. It is not an emergency service.

BYPDAS works with young people who are, or have been (within the past 28 days), misusing substances, this includes drugs and alcohol.

How to access this service

To access this service, the young person must have:

  • Used substance/s within the past 28 days
  • Be aged between 10 to 18 or aged between 18 to 21 if a care leaver, aged 18 to 25 if the young person has a disability or Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Are willing to engage with BYPDAS – willing to meet, want support, advice, information on substance use
  • Live in the borough of Bexley or London Borough Bexley looked after child in a neighbouring borough (distance up to 15 to 30 miles)

BYPDAS provides appointments in their clinic base, as well as homes, schools, and other community settings. They offer telephone and video appointments for children, young people, and their families. BYPDAS have several disabled parking bays outside of the clinic. Our clinic spaces are on the ground floor.

Referrals

To make a referral, call 02023 260 5200 and ask for BYPDAS. Referral to the service can be made by:

  • GP
  • School/college
  • Another professional (an example of this might be a social worker)
  • Self-referral by calling the Service

Please note: all referrals must be made with the young person’s consent. BYPDAS cannot see young people who are referred without their knowledge/consent.
