Community-spirited residents from across the borough are working with the London Borough of Bexley to help keep local pavements safe during icy weather by taking part in the Salt Wardens scheme. Salt Wardens use council-provided salt and equipment to treat pavements and public walkways in their neighbourhoods when conditions require it, helping to reduce the risk of slips and falls.

The Council cannot be everywhere at once during periods of severe or prolonged cold weather, so having residents who are willing to support and enhance the winter services we already provide - by taking pride in where they live and helping to keep local pavements safe - is beneficial for everyone.
