59th Mayor Cllr Ahmet (Andy) and Mayoress Mrs Elmaz Dourmoush

Councillor Ahmet (Andy) Dourmoush is Bexley’s 59th Mayor and Mrs Elmaz Dourmoush is the new Mayoress.

Born on 27 September 1960 in London, Ahmet has lived in the UK and at his family’s farm in Cyprus. He attended primary and secondary schools in Deptford. He later studied A-Level History and Maths and took an apprenticeship with BT.

In 1985, he met and married Elmaz. They lived in Danson Road with their two daughters, Salise and Sedef before moving to Hurst Road, Sidcup. Ahmet worked in London until he joined his Dad’s business ‘Eden Valley Foods’ in 1992. His parents moved back to Cyprus, but sadly were killed while on holiday during the Marmaris earthquake in 1999.

In 2007, Ahmet was sworn in as a Justice of the Peace. In 2010 Ahmet joined the Old Bexley & Sidcup Conservative Association and was elected Councillor for Longlands Ward in 2014. He has also been the Chairman of various Council scrutiny committees.

Ahmet enjoys football and rugby, supporting Millwall FC and the Barbarians. He has served on the London Football Association, as Chairman and Secretary of the Turkish Community Football Federation and as captain of the Woolwich College FC team.

The Mayor appointed Councillor Nigel Betts, who represents Falconwood & Welling Ward, as his Deputy Mayor and Mrs Ann Morrison, as the Deputy Mayoress.
