Bexley Together – The Mayor of Bexley’s Charity Appeal 2026 to 27
My Theme for the Year
This year, my theme is Simunye Bexley - Bexley Together. Simunye is a powerful word from my country of birth, South Africa, meaning "we are one." It reflects the unity and shared humanity I want for our borough. Togetherness isn’t just a feeling - it’s something we do. It’s choosing to look out for one another, lift each other up, and make sure no one in Bexley is left to struggle alone. When one of us is supported, our whole community grows stronger.
My chosen charities
Each of my three charities represents a different expression of togetherness:
- Crossroads Care South East London - supporting unpaid carers, the quiet heroes who hold families together. Crossroads Care provides respite breaks, emotional support, specialist care workers and practical help in the home, ensuring no carer carries their responsibilities alone - Find out more about Crossroads Care
- Truly Beloved - standing beside families of children with disabilities and special educational needs. They fund therapies, equipment and family support, helping every child in Bexley grow, learn and thrive - Find out more about Truly Beloved
- Diabetes UK Bexley Support Group - offering understanding, guidance and solidarity to families living with diabetes. The group ensures no family faces that journey alone. This cause is deeply personal to my family since our daughter’s Type 1 diagnosis in 2015 - Find out more about Diabetes UK Bexley
How You Can Help
Every pound we raise this year will go directly to supporting Bexley residents - our neighbours, our friends, our families. I’d love you to attend my Fundraising Events.
From dinners to teas, each ticket will have a profound impact on what our charities can achieve.
My upcoming events will be available soon.
My Charity Pledge Campaign aims to bring together individuals, organisations and businesses to help raise funds for my chosen charities. By pledging to donate, whether by way of a direct donation or funds raised from an event - no matter how big or small - will create a ripple effect that will transform lives, inspire others to do the same and strengthen our community. I thank you in advance for your generosity and for being an integral part of our beloved local community, of which I am extremely proud.
