The Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2026 to 2027

Each year the Mayor selects a charity or charities to support during their time in office, both by promoting them and raising funds.

In 2026 to 2027, The Mayor will be raising funds for Crossroads Care South East London, Diabetes UK Bexley and Truly Beloved alongside other local charities and good causes as the year progresses.

Crossroads Care South East London

Crossroads Care South East London supports adult unpaid carers, parent carers, and older people across Bexley, helping them maintain their independence, wellbeing, and connection to their community. Through a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach, we provide carers assessments, trauma informed counselling, carers break/respite services, Ageing Well assessments, befriending, information and social opportunities that reduce isolation and aims to improve their wellbeing.

Their work ensures that unpaid carers, older people, and those they care for feel valued, supported, listened to, engaged and empowered, helping to build stronger, healthier, and more connected communities across Bexley.

Ben Martin is the Chairman of the Bexley Diabetes UK Group, a self-funded community group dedicated to supporting people affected by diabetes across the borough. Established in 2000, the group has grown from a small support network into a thriving community of more than 700 members.

The group provides reliable information, practical advice, and a welcoming space for people living with diabetes, carers, and those wanting to learn more about the condition. The organisation is committed to encouraging best practices in diabetes care, sharing experiences and professional insights, advocating for high standards of local healthcare, and contributing to regional and national diabetes research initiatives.

Truly Beloved Logo

Founded in 2024 by Parv Choudhury and born from personal experience, Truly Beloved supports children with disabilities and special educational needs across the UK.

The charity funds therapy, specialist equipment, transport, family respite and holiday breaks. With no salaries and no overheads, 100% of every donation goes straight to the children. In under two years, Parv and his small team have supported more than 200 children and opened a charity shop on Nuxley Road in Belvedere.

All monies raised through the Mayor’s charity appeal will support children who live in Bexley.
