Welcome to the Bexley Magazine

We had an early Christmas present back in October when we heard the news that we had received approval for a new Community Diagnostic Clinic in Queen Mary’s Hospital. This is great news for local people and you can find out more about what the Centre will offer.

As the magazine went to print we were also about to celebrate two special opening events. The new Lime Wood School opened its doors in September as part of the new Quarry Erith housing and regeneration scheme.

The official school opening event takes place in November. In December we’ll see the official opening of the new Banking Hub in Welling High Street.

The new hub has been a while coming but following calls from local residents we were determined to see it in place. Once open I hope local people will make the most of having this new service close by. As we start to shop for Christmas presents this year please remember our local town centres and shop local where you can.

We are fortunate to have some wonderful high street shops alongside independent outlets that offer lots of choice for anyone looking for gifts. Our local businesses are the backbone of the borough and it’s important that we make the most of them. In this magazine we feature the support on offer for anyone who may be finding it difficult during the winter months. This includes mental health support as well as those struggling with the cost of living. Please take a look at the support available locally and nationally.

I wish all our residents a peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year.
