Background and context
Bexley has twelve libraries, six of which are council operated and six that are run by the community.
We want to build on our existing model to consider how libraries can act as a vehicle for local change, for example - supporting people to be healthier and happier, improve child literacy, provide spaces for creative arts activity and to support local people to grow their businesses.
The Library Service in Bexley had 812,106 visits across 12 sites in 2023 to 24 and the number of ‘issues’ has largely recovered to pre-covid levels.
