Additional funds for Adult Social Care

The London Borough of Bexley’s Adult Social Care services are set to receive a grant of £2.2 million over the next two years as a result of the government’s ‘social care winter workforce and capacity boost’ programme launched earlier this week (28 July).

The government has passed on the money to help with recruitment and retention in social care and boost capacity ahead of winter.

The funding will help to provide support to current services delivered by the Council as well as looking at ways to provide a more responsive local authority support to those who need it most in the borough.

The funds will also allow Bexley to increase our current adult social care workforce, improve retention rates and help with the additional demand over the winter months.

Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Cllr Melvin Seymour said:

This is excellent news for our residents. Like all local authorities we face a struggle with social care recruitment, this additional funding will help us strengthen our recruitment and retention programme.

It is also particularly welcome as we prepare for the usual pressures of winter, helping us to ensure we are as ready as we can be."
