Bexley Unites for the 16 Days Campaign to end Violence Against Women and Girls

16 Days Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Girls

The London Borough of Bexley is joining partners in the Bexley Community Safety Partnership to mark the 16 Days Campaign against gender-based abuse.

This campaign shines a light on the ongoing issue of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and encourages communities, organisations, and individuals to take action to end all forms of gender-based violence. The campaign theme for 2025 is “UNiTE to end digital violence against All Women and Girls”, focusing on raising awareness and promoting strategies to combat online violence.

While the campaign lasts 16 days, from 25 November (White Ribbon Day) to 10 December, Bexley’s commitment to ending gender-based violence continues all year round.

Solace Women’s Aid is commissioned by the Council to deliver Bexley’s domestic abuse support services, including Independent Domestic Abuse Advocates (IDVAS) providing advocacy and support, the One Stop Shop and training for the police.

The Council also has a multi-agency partnership overseeing the delivery of Bexley’s Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy and Domestic Abuse Strategy, coordinated by a dedicated VAWG Coordinator and Domestic Abuse Strategy Manager.

Bexley achieved White Ribbon Accreditation in November 2024, demonstrating its ongoing dedication to preventing violence against women and girls. In 2025, Bexley has developed its White Ribbon Action Plan, setting out how it will continue fostering a culture of respect, safety, and inclusion across Bexley and within the Council itself.

Councillor Brian Bishop, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing and White Ribbon Ambassador, said:

The 16 Days Campaign is an important event in the community safety calendar and a chance to spread the message that VAWG has no place in Bexley or anywhere. We are putting on a great selection of courses and events throughout the 16 days for anyone to get involved or find out more. Together we can raise awareness and challenge harmful behaviours and help put an end to violence against women and girls.”
