Bexley residents are being asked to go that extra mile for Recycle Week 2025.
The theme of Recycle Week, which is running from 22 to 28 September, is ‘Rescue Me! Recycle’.
The Borough has a 46% recycling rate, well above the London average (32.7%) and also above the national average (42.3%).
However, to continue to help the environment, the London Borough of Bexley is calling on people to try to increase that figure, as around half of the average green rubbish bin is made up of items that could have been recycled.
Recycle Week aims to highlight common types of recyclable waste that residents often don’t recycle and ask them to rescue at least one of these items from their rubbish bin.
These could include toilet roll tubes, empty aerosols, old toothpaste tubes, trigger sprays, shampoo bottles, foil and yoghurt pots – all of which can be recycled in either your blue lidded recycling bin (cardboard) or white lidded recycling bin (plastics and glass).
If you are unsure about what can be recycled or want to find out more about what goes in each bin, visit our Which bin should I use? page.
