The Bexley Green Points programme that rewards local people for recycling, reusing and reducing their rubbish, has been expanded so that green points can now also be earned for other eco-friendly actions with top-scoring individuals having the chance to win £20 voucher prizes every month.
Over 18,000 people living in Bexley already take part in the Bexley Green Points programme, which is offered to all residents in the Borough. Now, as well as earning Bexley Green Points for simple actions such as recycling food, residents can earn points for easy eco-friendly activities such as switching off plugs, swapping to LED bulbs, cycling more, spotting wildlife and sharing their 5-a-day meals.
The aim is to encourage residents to make positive changes and lead more sustainable lifestyles, with monthly voucher prizes available for top-scoring individuals.
Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Richard Diment, said:
Thanks to our amazing residents we’ve been able to increase recycling and last year we recycled over 38 000 tonnes of waste in Bexley.
We are committed to making our borough even more green and initiatives such as expanding the Bexley Green Points programme will help increase community engagement with environmental issues and encourage positive action. “
If you live in the Borough and you are not already a member, you can join the Bexley Green Points programme or downloading the app. If you’re already a Bexley Green Points member, head on over to the website to find out more.
