The Council is working in a cross-party alliance with the Slade Green community to shape the future of the area following the award of £20m of Pride in Place government funding over the next 10 years.

Over the summer we asked local people, businesses and organisations to apply to join the Slade Green Neighbourhood Board, formed to decide with the community how best to invest the funding awarded.

The selection process was highly competitive and attracted many high-quality candidates, reflecting the commitment and enthusiasm of residents, community organisations and local businesses. The eleven community board members have been selected to provide a broad mix of skills, experience, perspectives and community connections, helping to ensure they can effectively represent the area and support delivery of the Pride in Place programme.

The Board also includes the Council’s Leader Cllr David Leaf, Slade Green and Northend Ward Councillors Stefano Borella and Donna Briant, and Bexleyheath and Crayford MP Daniel Francis who will support the delivery of Pride in Place in Slade Green

The first Board meeting was held on Wednesday 9 September and governance arrangements and key milestones were formally agreed

The Chairman of the Board, local pastor, Kevin Mclaren said:

It is fantastic to see the Slade Green Neighbourhood Board up and running. Together we will work to revitalize the high street and restore community spaces in the area, so that local people have a vibrant, safe and sustainable community well into the future.”
