Bexley’s new Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2023 - 2028 was launched this week (2 October). The strategy is designed to help make the borough even healthier.

The strategy sets out four key priorities to focus on over the next five years.

The four key priorities are:

  • Children and Young People
  • Ageing Well
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Obesity

Council Leader and Chairman of the Bexley Health and Wellbeing Board, Cllr Baroness O’Neill of Bexley OBE said:

This strategy sets out our shared ambitions to make Bexley residents even healthier. We commit to our work on these priorities, alongside our partners, so that Bexley can continue to be a place where it is easy for our residents to thrive and be healthy.”

Director of Public Health, Nicole Klynman said:

We know that there are significant differences in health outcomes between different groups of residents in Bexley. These inequalities in health have widened since the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis.

We will have a strong focus on reducing health inequalities over the next five years so that every Bexley resident has the chance to achieve good health outcomes."
