Roadside partnership litter blitz

As part of the Great British Spring Clean last month teams from the Council were joined by staff from Tarmac Kier Joint Venture to litter pick along the side of the A2. Teams collected more than 50 bags of rubbish and a shopping trolley.

The main message in this year’s Great British Spring Clean campaign is that the environment belongs to everyone and we can all do our bit to protect it.

Cabinet Member for Places, Cllr Richard Diment said:

It’s everyone’s responsibility to help keep the environment around them clean. Much of the litter along the roadside would have been abandoned by vehicle owners as they used the road. Please use a litter bin or take your litter home rather than throwing it on the roadside and expecting others to clean up your mess.”

In Bexley, we have approximately 300 community-spirited volunteers from across our borough who work with us as litter pickers to help us keep our local area clean and green.
