The London Borough of Bexley are working with partners to encourage Christmas giving for vulnerable children, young adults and vulnerable families through two different campaigns.

Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Philip Read said:

Christmas is a difficult time for some people and especially so when funds are in short supply. These two campaigns are designed so that any small gift or donation will be gratefully received by the team and by the young people that we are supporting.

By providing a small gift we can make a child’s Christmas. By supporting the Young Care Leaver campaign in any way we can help to make sure that they have somewhere safe to go to enjoy the festive season.”

The Council’s ‘Positive Journeys’ Team are looking for help to provide Christmas gifts or donations for children in need of our support or protection and children and young adults in care or leaving care.

The Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Ahmet Dourmoush has joined the campaign as part of the borough’s annual toy collection. Bexley police and local Samaritans groups are collecting on behalf of the Council.

Please email PositiveJourneys@bexley.gov.uk if you or someone you know would like to know more about how to donate or support the toy appeal.

The Positive Journeys Seniors forum are looking for help to raise £1,500 for the borough’s Young Adults Leaving Care this Christmas.

The Positive Journeys Seniors is a Bexley forum for young adults leaving care, they use their voice and leadership to make a difference for other young adults who have left care and need additional support.

The funds will help to provide care packages, a celebration event and a Christmas Day meal to ensure that those young adults leaving care will be able to celebrate the holiday season with others.

Forum members have set up a crowdfunding page where you can find out more.
