Volunteers help Erith to bloom

Volunteers lifting plants at Erith Riverside Gardens

A huge thank you to those at FORGE, Friends of Erith Riverside Gardens, for their help in lifting plants from the gardens in advance of landscaping works that start in May.

A lot of plants have been saved and will either be replanted in the gardens after the improvement works or at other locations around the town centre.

It’s not too late to volunteer to help as FORGE will meet again at the gardens this Saturday 20 April 10am to 1pm.  Email bloominerith@gmail.com if you’d like to join and let them know if you have your own tools or if you need these to be supplied.

The improvements at Riverside Gardens are part of the wider GreaterErith programme in the Council.

A new ramp will make the route between the gardens and the Thames Path accessible for all users, while the reconfiguration of ground levels will make it easier to move around within the gardens and provide better views across the River Thames.

A new playground will be created and outdoor fitness equipment will be provided on the riverside terrace. New planting, including a dedicated growing space for the Friends of Riverside Gardens, will increase biodiversity and improve drainage in the Gardens and along Erith High Street.
