Get mental health help and support for young people
If you’re worried about your mental health or a young person's mental health, it’s important to speak to someone as soon as possible.
Contact your GP who may be able to help with their mental health problems. If necessary, your GP will refer the young person to mental health services such as CAMHS.
Mental health support for young people
- Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. Call 0800 068 4141 (24 hour service)
- Childline is a British counselling service for children and young people under 19. They deal with any issues which cause distress or concern; some of the most common issues include child abuse, bullying, mental illness, parental separation and or divorce, teenage pregnancy, substance misuse, neglect, and psychological abuse call: 0800 1111
- Bexley Moorings Project - support for young people who are: young carers, young adult carers aged 8 to 18 years, at risk of exclusion form school, at risk of being bullied, come from a family environment that means they can be vulnerable, chaotic and isolated, high functioning on the autistic spectrum or have learning/additional needs, at risk of being involved in crime
- YoungMinds - whether you want to understand how you’re feeling, find ways to feel better, or support someone who's struggling, they are there to help
- Kooth is a free, safe, and anonymous online platform where young people can access mental health support whenever they need it. Kooth is available to anyone between the ages of 10 to 18
