Stuart Rowbotham - Director of Adult Social Care & Health and Place Executive Lead, Bexley - South East London Integrated Care Board

Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at our careers in adults social care work.

If you’re after an exciting opportunity to work with a progressive and bold adult social care service sat at the heart of an integrated health and care system, then you’ve come to the right place.

Our mission is to empower

To empower those we work for in social care, our residents and carers, to get the support they need their way - personalised to their life and aspirations. We already lead the way in offering meaningful Individual Service Funds (remember them?) and we’re on a journey of continuous improvement with Direct Payments. And we’ll soon be launching our care and support app so that everyone can use the same technology they use in everyday life to choose the support that’s the best fit for them - after all, what’s the point of having a personal budget if there’s nothing to buy but the same old care services.

We want to empower those who already support our people

This means our voluntary sector partners and care providers. That’s why many are now Trusted Partners, able to allocate resources on our behalf without having to ‘refer in’. Our home care providers no longer work to ‘time and task’ - they have population-based budgets and are fully part of our wider partnership.

We want to empower our communities

This relates to the places people live their daily lives with the multitude of personal and social relationships that sustain them. We are setting up Local Care Networks at neighbourhood level as the building blocks of our ways of working as a health and care system, so that we’re visible, present, and engaged with our communities.

But the key to our success is to empower our staff

We want our staff to work with our residents and our partners with the necessary authority to make autonomous decisions.

Does this speak to your values? If so we look forward to hearing from you.
