What does success look like?

Level 1

Organisations exhibit good practice and use industry standard approaches

Organisations innovate in terms of techniques and approaches and are considered leaders amongst their peers

Our Data Maturity Assessment set our current position as Level 3. The implementation of this strategy aims to develop our data maturity to Level 4 (out of 5).

As a Level 4 organisation, we would demonstrate the following behaviours and practices:

  • exhibiting good practice and using industry standard approaches
  • be broadly evidence driven and prioritise the use of data
  • have senior leadership data capability, with data practices throughout the data lifecycle being well-managed
  • having a strong infrastructure of systems and tools for data analysis
  • having a good level of skills and capabilities needed to manage data well, with data being well-governed, and all processes compliant with statutory data governance responsibilities

Longer term ambition

This strategy aims to put in place the solid foundations that will enable us to move forward into Level 5 data maturity where a key element will be our ability to use predictive analytics to support preventative and early interventions. Strength in our data sources, data tools and skills, and governance arrangements provide the building blocks to be able to do this safely and with confidence.

This ambition plays an important role in our ability in future to manage service pressures and pre-emptively develop services that will best support our Borough.
