Winter 2025
Bexley Council, working in partnership with the Bexley Culture Network, has been granted £100,000 from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants to bring together local arts and culture partners to deliver Night Visions.
The festival, which stretches from October to January, is a celebration of local creativity that uses the theme of light to connect a series of unique events across the borough.
Featuring nine exciting new arts projects and a cornerstone of the #CelebratingBexley, Night Visions will make Bexley glow with unique experiences crafted by local artists.
Hall Place gardens played host to Strictly Come Dancing’s stars as the hit show filmed a segment on 4 October. London Butterfly Garden provided a magical backdrop, perfectly complementing the sparkle and energy that Strictly is known for.
Bexley regularly provides locations for adverts, TV shows, music videos and films, including The Crown, The Favourite and many others.
Finalist Natalie Keel was crowned this year’s winner of Bexley’s Got Talent, a talent show showcasing our local talent as part of the #CelebratingBexley programme.
The evening saw 15 finalists perform for judges at the Delta Marriot Hotel in Bexleyheath and Natalie emerged as the winner, scooping a £500 prize as well as the honour of turning on Bexleyheath’s Christmas Lights.
A new public sculpture by current Turner Prize-winner Jasleen Kaur will be unveiled in Thamesmead later this year.
Kaur was selected for the commission by a panel of five young, first-time curators from the town in 2022. Called Was. Is. Will be., Kaur’s first permanent public artwork was developed in close collaboration with these curators and the local community.
The artwork is supported and funded by Peabody, who are leading the long-term regeneration of Thamesmead.
