Licensing - Scrap Metal Act 2013

Paragraph 6(1) of Schedule 1 to the Act requires that an application must be accompanied by a fee set by the authority.

The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 introduced two licence types, a Site Licence and a Collectors Licence; and placed the responsibility for the issue and renewal of such licences with the local authority. The local authority has a duty not to issue or renew a licence unless it is satisfied that the applicant is a suitable person to carry on business as a scrap metal dealer. Licences are issued for a 3 year term.
