Action to Improve Air Quality
Air Quality Management Areas
Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) are declared when there is an exceedance or likely exceedance of an air quality objective. After declaration, the authority should prepare an Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) within 12 months. The AQAP should specify how air quality targets will be achieved and maintained and provide dates by which measures will be carried out.
A summary of AQMAs declared by London Borough of Bexley can be found in Table J. The table presents a description of the one whole borough AQMA that is currently designated within London Borough of Bexley. Appendix C provides maps of AQMA and also the air quality monitoring locations in relation to the AQMA. The air quality objectives pertinent to the current AQMA designation are as follows:
