Getting active

Being active is good for the body and the mind. Adults should aim to be physically active every day, and for at least 150 minutes over a week.

Some is better than none, and more is better still. This could include brisk walking, cycling or more intensive forms of physical activity such as running. Adults should also do activities that develop or maintain strength in major muscle groups. This could include heavy gardening, carrying heavy shopping or resistance exercise.

Children and young people should engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity per week. This can include PE lessons, active travel to and from school, after-school activities, play and sports.

With over 100 local parks and green spaces to explore – some with outdoor gyms - there are many opportunities to be physically active in the borough of Bexley.
