9. Secondary Provision
Several HAF providers in Bexley focus specifically on engaging young people aged 11 to 16 with age-appropriate, stimulating activities.
Koala Klubs, in partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars, delivers the Jag Tag programme—an American Football-based provision led by professional coaches. Alongside daily swimming and other sports, participants develop athletic skills and teamwork while also having the opportunity to go on trips to the cinema and bowling. Young people who attend the full programme are rewarded with Jacksonville Jaguars merchandise and a memorable trip to Wembley Stadium to watch an NFL game.
Sendtivate (10 to 16) offers a creative and skills-based programme featuring baking competitions, sewing, computer games, table tennis, and gym access. The club also delivers impactful life skills sessions covering important topics such as gang violence and knife crime, helping to build awareness and resilience.
Power Mobile Gym runs a vibrant programme for 11 to 16-year-olds that includes Muay Thai, non-contact boxing, soft archery, badminton, football, basketball, talent shows, and trips to the cinema and Science Museum. It also incorporates workshops on CV building, media skills, and social issues like knife crime and Stop and Search.
Many of our provisions cater for a broad age range, often up to 16 years, which supports families by allowing siblings to attend the same club. This flexibility enables providers to run age-appropriate sessions simultaneously. Older participants have sometimes taken on leadership roles, mentoring younger children. However, feedback continues to show that many young people aged 14 to 16 prefer attending clubs specifically for their age group—something we continue to support through tailored provision.
