The London Borough of Bexley provides advice and investigates complaints about contaminated land.
There is a difference between 'contaminated land' and 'waste on land'.
Contaminated land is defined as land where substances are causing or could cause:
- significant harm to people, property or protected species
- significant pollution of surface waters (for example lakes and rivers) or groundwater
- harm to people as a result of radioactivity
Further information about contaminated land can be found in the document Developers guide - Planning applications and land contamination (PDF, 423KB).
