10. Principals and cross-cutting themes
In addition to these main priority areas, the following crosscutting topics will also be considered when tackling the named priorities. This is due to statistical and anecdotal evidence recognising the links to victims/perpetrators around these areas and the need for a co-ordinated partnership communication approach:
- substance misuse
- mental health victim
- centred approach
- complex vulnerabilities
The BCSP knows that in order to address its own priorities, it also needs to address the above topics which are often the underlying cause, or a symptom or consequence of criminality or becoming a victim to crime.
The BCSP consists of partners who are already involved in wider safeguarding, and therefore these are matters which are dealt with as part of their functions already. We also work with partner Boards, such as the Adults and Children’s Safeguarding Boards, the Health and Wellbeing Board, and the Combatting Drugs Partnership Board to address these matters.
