6. What does the JSA tell us?

We are proud that Bexley is consistently in the top 6 safest London Boroughs. The majority of offence types have seen a further decrease in 2024.

There was a slight increase in criminal damage; sexual offences; theft; and drug offences which saw an increase. Domestic abuse significantly contributes to this. We need to commit to addressing this upward trend with appropriate response and early intervention.

Like London overall, Bexley has seen an overall rise in offences in 2024, however, Bexley has had a smaller increase compared to London overall (0.58% in Bexley compared to 2.33% across London). This shows that comparatively, our partnership efforts are working.

Overall, violence against the person; theft; and vehicle offences are the top 3 highest volume crimes. domestic abuse is also flagged as one of the highest volume crimes in Bexley. We need to commit to ensuring not only that there is appropriate support to victims of these crimes; but also that underreported crimes get reported so that we can help.
