14. Priority 4: community reassurance

Community Reassurance, unlike the other priority areas, was identified by the BCSP as a cross-cutting priority area in response to the community voice. While the other priority areas focus on a high-harm or high-volume crime type, the community reassurance priority intends to:

  • provide the community with awareness on BCSP areas to ensure concerns are recognised and reported
  • help signpost and triage reports to the right places to improve the experience of residents with services inform residents of what is happening in their area, from community events to community risks
  • reassure residents who may be concerned about particular crime types that are low risk, by sharing the facts and data - in particular, around the other three BCSP priority areas as well as vehicle crime, theft and young people, based on the survey results
  • create opportunities for residents to engage with services, sharing their feedback and recommendations, from ward panels and public meetings, to social media interactions and online information via webpages and newsletters
  • ensure residents know the work that the BCSP is doing and what action has been taken in response to their feedback

There is a BCSP Communications Plan and the BCSP Board oversee the delivery against this plan.
